How does pediatric chiropractic care differ from chiropractic treatment of adults?
Chiropractic adjustments are modified for a child's weight, age and size. Chiropractic adjustments are gentle, painless and parents report that children enjoy their treatment! Each treatment is tailored to each particular patient and this is no exception with children! For infants, fingertip pressure is all that is needed for an adjustment.
Infants and children can have spinal misalignments just as adults do! They are typically painless as children are inherently flexible and mobile! Chiropractic care is based on the fact that their is a close relationship between the spine and the nervous system. If their is a misalignment of dysfunction of the spinal joints, then this will affect the spinal nerves of the nervous system - which controls and coordinates all of the systems of the body!
How do children develop spinal dysfunctions?

Chiropractors have been adjusting children's spines for more than 100 years and have an excellent safety record! Dr. Sara Croteau is a member of the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) which offers extensive training and support to chiropractors treating family members of all ages! See their website for information about specific conditions that respond well to chiropractic care, research, and further information.
